HISTORY

The Beeby Bros. Contract Ploughing/Cultivating business was started in 1907 with seven pairs of single cylinder engines each weighing about 17 tons. Since then there has been a continuous presence of steam ploughing engines on the Rempstone farm site, until 2008 when the last two ploughing engines were sold at auction in September marking the end of an era. The father of current owner Mike Beeby was the founder of the Rempstone Steam Rally which began in 1954 and is still running today with Mike as the President of the organizing committee. This is the oldest surviving Rally in the East Midlands, having only missed 3 events in its history due to pestilence (Foot and Mouth) or adverse weather. The show has grown tremendously from that first event behind the Beeby farm and has moved venue at least twice since then until it now hosts around 500 individual exhibits including about 40 Steam Engines at Turn Post Farm.
